I underestand! and it's a good reason, but if you'll allow me to give some food for thought: Look at other games with updates and mods (Call to Arms, beamNG (also in early access), Teardown(early access, still releasing new tools actively) Minecraft and many more) yes, mods do break when the games are updated, but it's alright people are used to it and dedicated modders will just fix them- BR already has a modding community and they aren't gonna stop, so while the idea of waiting so their mods don't break is nice, the modding community is gonna suffer a LOT more trying to make mods without tools than we would suffer trying to update them once after each updateįor perspective, in the past 2 weeks trying to fix my mod's code for multiplayer sync (Star Wars Package is the name of my mod) i've worked almost daily (multiple hours a day) and released at least 15 different versions to test and try to fix it (if you dont believe me check #mod-uploads in the discord and count the Hotfixes) This all happened due to lack of tools / source code. So that's my question, can you please help us modders somehow so we don't struggle so much modding the game? I know what might be replied to this: "wait till release" Well, that's not always an option, some of us are growing up and finishing our studies and in years when the game releases we might be deep into our own projects and unable to dedicate the time we'd like to mod this awesome game. I myself have spent the last two weeks working daily on a code mod for brick rigs, needing to build and cook the mod each time i needed to test because of not being able to test in the editor and failing to achieve multiplayer sync because i have to take weird detours that i wouldnt need to if i could just edit the game's code, or at least see how it works. We're modding the game and putting countless hours into it because we love it but not having the slightest tools or help in the task is like if the game was just fighting back. give us the tools to edit the game's code or at least see how it works so we can work with it. Look at all we've accomplished already even with the limitations, all the passion put into the mods, but not having the code or an ability to edit it, or any kind or documentation is just like a wall we're constantly headbutting into, if we had more to work with we could've gone SO MUCH FURTHER already (and we've already gone far with virtually no help), I ask that you please help us a bit and give us the tools we need, i'm not even asking workshop support just. Can you PLEASE add mod support / release a SDK / release the source code sooner than release?īut the community is here NOW trying to mod this game and it's so HARD and frustrating to do anything without being able to edit or access the vanilla code.
